What's the best hair straightening iron to use?

But I don't want it too expensive either. I was planning on making a trip ULTA and check the irons out. Which one should I pick, and what width is best? I have shoulder length curly hair. (it's a little coarse and I have a lot of hair)

What's the best hair straightening iron to use?
I use a CHI but that is a tad pricey. You can go to Target or Walmart and find some reasonably priced flat irons by Revlon or something like that and they work just fine. For the cheaper ones you may have to use it on the hottest setting to ensure that your hair straightens all the way. What's the best hair straightening iron to use?
skinny straighteners work better. also, make sure it is ceramic.

Hair straightening iron?

okay do u guys have any suggesstions on which brand of straightening iron works best..even on curly hair. cause most of them dont seem to be able to straighten my curls.Hair straightening iron?
My wife swears by the ceramic ones. GHD She Says!!!Hair straightening iron?
Braun seems to work well, it does for me and i have very curly hair....
Ceramic is definitely the best. Don't cheat urself buying the low budget ones, it costs to be beautiful
i swear by CHI.

but also, blow dry your hair straight as much as you can FIRST. do this by using a round barrel brush while drying.

THEN flatiron. your hair will be soooo straight and silkysmooth! :-)
GIRL U DONT NEED A STRIGHTING IRON U JUST NEED A CURLING IRON THE ONLY DIFF IS U JUST SLIDE IT THOUGH UR HAIR A FEW TIMES AND FOR THT I SUGGEST CONAIR INSTANT HEAT MY BFF HAS THE WORST AMOUNT OF REALLY CURLLY THICK HIAR AND CAN STRAIGHTIN IT IN LIKE 20 MINUTEDS USESING A CURLING IRON THE STRAIGHTING IRON TAKES HER 1 HR
A ceramic straighten purchased from a stylist or a beauty supply store. It should be at least $50. Use straightening products and use heat protector. Don't straighten more then twice a week. Air dry the rest of the time so you don't fry your curls.
chi ceramic. paul mitchell works great. also ionic hairstraightener is good but they are all pricey.start saving.
You need to know someone that is a cosmetologist and get them to buy you a professional one from the beauty supply house that is the only one that has worked for me and it was about 50 bucks. You can find one in there that will work
Chi is the best. It is pricy, but totally worth it.. I am a firm user of it for 5 years now and I love it.
I have one a ceramic straightener called Silver Bullet its tempreture goes up to 200, Its great i love it!
I got this one at walmart.. it straightens your hair when its WET! its called wet 2 straight. It works GREAT! I dont have super curly hair, but its wavy and ugly and I have to straighten it everytime i get out of the shower.

it was about 30 dollars or so.. Ive had it for about 6 months with no problems.
professional ones that u can buy from hair dressers are the best! philips is really good tho. i have curly hair and my hair died from starightening it even tho i used heat proof spray and everything. now i just put mousse when its wet and it looks prefect. not many people have curly hair so u shud enjoy being different!
HEY!!! stop using those irons!!!! you'll enjoy it noe, but you'll regret it later... anyways.. if you really wanna straighen those curls.. just follow this tips!!

1. Conditioner for oily hair

I have naturally oily, straight hair and I used a shampoo with conditioner and then applied a leave-in conditoner to prevent static. It worked! I used mousse and a bit of hair spray and was static-free almost all day.

2. static....

i get static hair all the time...for short releif of it, use a dryer sheet. i dont know what it is that helps but it does! don't use it for very long though.

3. Moisturizer for hair Rebecca Featherston

Several years ago I was introduced to SEBASTION Potion #9. This is a leave in hair moisturizer, not a conditioner. It's used in place of, after you shampoo. Use it regularly throughout the winter months and you will notice a difference!

4. Winter hair rejuvination Rebecca

Get your hairstylist to color your hair with REDKIN SHADES...this is a conditioning, non-peroxide color wash, you can brighten your hair color by using the shades and mixing with clear to tone down to an acceptable level for your taste. This is a great treatment for the wintertime, it brightens your hair, and deep conditions it at the same time. You'll be hooked after one treatment!

5. Fly Away Hair

If you are having trouble with fly away hair try this. Rinse hair, after shampooing, every now and then with a good liquid clothes conditioner. It greatly cuts down the static in your hair.

6. Surefire Success

Keep your hat on till spring, maybe early summer.

7. To Fight Static...

I have super long (3 1/2 ft. from crown to tips), super thin, super straight hair and static in the winter is a nightmare for me. I have learned 3 good ways of combating it however. #1 Keep a trial size bottle of a leave in spray conditioner with you at all times (you can buy these in drug stores for pennies). #2 Run a dryer sheet over your hair. #3 Spray something like Static Guard over your hair (this may stink but it's effective).

8. Smooth Hair

My stylist told me that when you rinse out your conditioner, you should use colder water. When you look at a piece of hair under a microscope, it looks like the shingles of a roof. When you use colder water to rinse out your conditioner, it closes those ';shingles'; and makes your hair smoother.

9. Better hair

Before showering, I comb my hair one last time. This helps to distribute the natural oils in your hair. When in the shower, I usually comb my conditioner into my hair paying special attention to the tips because this is where your hair has less moisture. When I'm done I usually blast cold water onto my hair. This helps with keeping the hair moisturized since it closes the hair shaft and it makes your hair extremely shiny.
Helen of Troy has lasted me 5 years, still going strong and when I straighten it, my hair looks amazing. Even after my sister bought a new Ceramic one a few months ago, mine still works and straightens better and the best part is my hair is shinier and healthier looking than before when I do it. I use the gold-plated one.
everyone says a chi or a straightener like that BUT I say just use a regular iron. It takes about 5 minutes instead of doing piece by piece(which you have to do with all hair straighteners) I lay on the floor and brush all my hair to one side and just iron it flat then I switch to my other side and do the same thing. People say it will burn your hair but it doesn't and I even use it on the highest heat...(I also have really curly hair too...) I think it does better than any hair straightener..cuase none of them work for me either.
Like freaking vidal sasson wet 2 straight... it has 30 tempeture settings and you can straighten your hair wet damp or dry !! cool !

What is THE BEST hair straightening iron?

no price range. what's THE BEST iron? ive seen soo many in Sephora and i have no idea which one to buy.

help!

:) thanks to all the answers! What is THE BEST hair straightening iron?
GHDs definitely. or any tourmaline ones (they replace the negative ions in your hair keeping it healthy %26amp; minimising damage)What is THE BEST hair straightening iron?
yep yep the chi is really the best!! there's just something about it but also my mom got this Revlon hair straightener at about $60 at target and it works just as good as the chi and it looks the same too but make sure when you straighten your hair that you do it in sections it'll take less time and the results would be good! hope this helps!! good luck!!!
Everyone will probably say Chi. And I do have to agree. They are a good quality and they are worth the money. I have thick curly hair and it straightens mine beautifully.
I know this is what everyone is saying but I have to agree....get a CHI!!! I know they are expensive but you can get a new in box CHI on EBAY!
The best hair straightening irons have ceramic plates, because ceramic plates are gentler on you hair, and they don't dry it out quickly. Make sure that the cord is the proper length for where ever you plan to use it, and that it gets hot enough to straighten quickly!! I would suggest a JDL, they work for me, and are very gentle on my hair!

Hope this helps!!
My sister just got the CHI straightener and its crazy! It straightened my hair in less than 15 mins and i have alot of really wavy hair.
yeah...chi's are reallly good.

don't get a hot tools! they are aweful!
At our salon we use the CHI iron. It is a solid ceramic plate that recharges your hair with ions that make the hair shiny. Just be careful it reaches 400 degrees. Keep it moving or you can singe your hair. It is the heat not the tension that straightens the hair.( no pulling) They retail for $150-$200. If your hair is not excessively curly try to find one with a temperature gage so you can set it to a lower heat. Babyliss has some descent ones. The Best is the CHI.
hmmm

i bought my straightner at walmart for $30 [The Remington Wet 2 Straight]

and it works wonders for me

i have super curly hair

and in about 30 minutes i have super silky straight hair

but if you do have curly hair and you're considering to buy it

don't use it when your hair is wet

it'll only make it look frizzy and poofy

and i tried the chi and it was horrible

it made my hair poofy and it wasn't all that straight

Hair straightening iron?

I'm Chinese and I have naturally straight hair but there's this new hairstyle that I want that requires my hair to be really straight. So before I buy the iron, I was wondering if I could buy those $20 ones from CVS or walgreens. I know the more expensive ones have more heat, but what's the difference as long as it gets my hair straight? How much heat do I set it to so that it doesn't burn my hair? And will using it everyday damage my hair? Thanks if you can answer all my questions~Hair straightening iron?
no, if you use some heat protecting serum then it won't damage your hair too badly. just get it trimmed every 6 weeks and condition well.

with more heat, it will go a lot faster. if you don;t have much heat, then you will have to go over and over the same piece of hair over and over again.

if you;re going to use it every day, it's worth getting a good quality Straightener. just shell out like 60 bucks for one, and get one that's ceramic plated and hastourmalinee, if you're straightener only has ceramic coating, then it will wear off and do damage to your hair. the tourmaline helps de-frizz your hair.

if your hair is already straight, start it at medium heat. if it's not working fast enough for you, put it hotter.

good luck!

:)Hair straightening iron?
i dont think it really matters which straighteners you use but some might take longer to get it really straight, i use the amika ones and they go to about 220 and my hairs not damaged, i dont think it matters as long as you use heat spray and condition your hair well and its not too hot like anything over 230 is probably not good :-) x
My flat iron is a Remmington Wet2Straight. It's only about 20 dollars and it works really well. As for the heat situation, the flat iron comes with a chart to tell you the heat you should set it to.
Buy one that's over $70, and you won't regret it. Also, the cheap ones tend to break down easily and damage your hair more over the long run.
A really good straightner is more than $20. Buy one that's over $30, and Revlon and Bed Head have the better ones.

Best brands of Hair Straightening Irons and Curlers for African-American hair?

I know I asked a question similar to this, but I really don't wanna go out and buy ANY straighter/curler tht wldve wasted my money. I have medium length brown/black hair tht reaches just after my collarbone. My hair is actually very good quality and doesnt get vry nappy. Its very thick and soft and curly, and when I put a relaxer/perm in it, it makes it less poofy. I have my hair in braids now, but I'm taking them out in about a week, so I wanna buy a new straightener/curler b4 i take out the braids. Know n-e good brands for my type of hair? When suggesting them cld u suggest brands tht cme with wide plates for the straighteners? Nd w/ the curlers do u think my type of hair wld look bettr with big curls or little ones? Sry i know this is confusing. Jst tell me nething u can find/reccomend. Thankyouu!:)Best brands of Hair Straightening Irons and Curlers for African-American hair?

I have a Chi. They're awesome. A little pricey-around $115-$120. Not too bad. But you can straighten, or curl if you know what you're doing. But that's what I have. You should try it. Just go to your local hair salon.
CHI...best one out there hands down!
i have tried ev-ery-thing! my suggestion is don't dish out $100 for a straightening iron. and don't use a regular iron that is so so sooooo bad for your hair. now my friend told me this and i basically laughed at her. andi's multiheat ceramic straightener. i bought mine at walmart for 10-18$ i can't remember which one. but it was wayyy cheap and i haven't been looking since! it's small and it heats up really fast. it works so good...i love it!

What is the best hair straightening iron?

One that does not damage your hair ... Or I should say, one that doesn't damage your hair muchWhat is the best hair straightening iron?
Sedu.

Whatever you buy don't get chi, it fries your hair, trust me I've had it and chi's are fake ceramics, they just have ceramic paint. Go on folica.com and look at straighteners there, compare, look at before and afters etc. Sedu has the best ratings and is amazing, I have one. %26lt;3What is the best hair straightening iron?
