I'm planning to buy one of those hair straightening irons.does it damage hair?

is it effective?my hair is too frizzy and i'd really like to have straight hair when i go out.i've never tried one of these straighteining irons before so i dunno what its consequences are.does it have a lot of consequences?should i buy it?tell me your experience.I'm planning to buy one of those hair straightening irons.does it damage hair?
Heckers yes!!!!

Get the Paul Mitchell one...a lil pricey but works wonders!!! Also, you are going to need to get some good shampoo and conditioner. Also, get something that protects your hair from all the heat damage. Otherwise you are going to having rough/brittle/broomstick hair!!!

I would recommend Pantene Daily moisture therapy (shampoo/conditioner); Chi hair serume (grey/red bottle); also Dove daily moisture spray!!!

Good Luck!!I'm planning to buy one of those hair straightening irons.does it damage hair?
I use to have beautiful curly hair and I started straightening it. Now it never curls. Its ok to do it every once in a while. But you do it to often and your curls won't come back. If your going to get a straightener go to a beauty supply store to get it, and ask what they recommend. trust me its worth it, you buy a crappy straightener and your hair will look like crap. it also damages your ends..frys them. I would also recommend getting hotspray, it protects your hair before you straighten it.
You can get products that protect the hair

Ive been straightening my hair for 2 years and my hair was as healthy as it was before i started straightening it. The people who normal say that it damages there hair are pplz who have died there hair , so they have chemically damaged hair but because they dont realise ths can happen they blame the hair irons.

so u shuld so get them ! Also it helps to have ur hair cut every 6-8 just to get rid of any split ends that might occur
I use straighters after I have showers. Lol, and I can tell you now my hair is so not damaged! You can get straightners to suit your hair type. Since you have frizzy hair, you can get different sprays to calm it down before you straighten so they are easier to use. If you are scared of hair damage (i have to admit, if you straighten one bit way too much it can become dry), you can use heat protection sprays. I have one just in case and it makes my hair perfectly smooth. You can get these things at cheap prices in make-up shops or even just at your hairdressers. Hope I helped :)
you bet its effective it will thin out your hair and make it less frizzy and straight. But its wont damage your hair if you buy a hair protect-ant like chi 44, FHI heat hot sauce, john frieda frizz-ease heat defeat (all sprays you can buy at a local cvs/brooks. or a salon) But if you dont use any protection and you contiuously straighten your hair it will get very dry and damaged
I have naturally REALLY straight hair but when I wake up in the morning, it comes out wavy so I straighten whenever I go out. After a couple of weeks, you see a little more frizz sometimes (depending on your natural hair) and your hair sometimes loses its shine.

My advice is that its ok to straighten your hair but make sure you use good shampoo %26amp; conditioner to restore, like Pantene or Loreal. And use a good brand name straightener like Conair or Revlon ect ect.

Hope this helppppps:)
they make straighteners that aren't as bad on your hair. I have one and used to use it everyday. I quit b/c I have SOO much hair and it takes me 45 minutes to straighten my hair. But I still use it once a week or so. I LOVE it! It is very effective. More than anything, it'll dry out the ends a little, but mine isn't that bad. When I condition, I make sure to get the ends real well. I would buy mine over and over. Do you know someone w/one??? You can try it to make sure you like it.
First of all, Hey wats up

Straightening Irons are great and as long as you dont use it everyday it shouldnt damage your hair too much. I use it not too often and my hairs fine. Heres how to get really straight hair

1.Wash your hair first

2.Blow dry your hair, with a comb going through it

3.Start Straitening

4.BAM beatiful hair. LOL
i started using a chi, and before that i used a drug store brand. i recommend the chi because its less damaging (use heat proctor), doesnt get hotspots which damage ur hair a lot, and you dont have to style it so often. like i use it one day and it stays pretty straight until it gets wet. after i started using it my hair looked really shiny and i got compliments. hope this helped and God Bless.
Hey Babes [=

Yes, like most things including even the sun and the wind, they do damage your hair. But if you look after your body it will pay off so use heat protection spray to minimise damage, use intense conditioners a lot and don't brush/comb hair whilst wet ;D

Good luck with the new style!!

;;XXXxxx
you should definately get a flat iron!

yes, they can damage hair, but not if you protect it

you can get any iron guard spray and use it before you straighten your hair and it will be fine

chi has a great iron guard for around 12-15 bucks anywhere that sells hair products, you could probably find other options for cheaper
it damages it but if your going to use one buy some heat taming spray it will reduce the damage some .. and dont leave the iron on one spot for a long period of time.. if you have too keep going over the spot one chunk at a time do your whole head then go back .. but yeah your hair will get ruined after a while if you use it every day but the spray does help
yes they damage your hair but ur better off getting ceramic straightners, like ghds are good, my mum let me use them a few years ago only for special occasions but now im in the habit of using them everyday which isnt very good but i use heat protection, still no good but why not? we only live once so try out everything you can and learn from experience, live life to the full!!
It can damage your hair if used too much or incorrectly. If you follow the instructions and use good conditioning products and don't use it too much (like everyday or multiple times every day) then you should be just fine. Make sure you get a quality straitener or else you will be frustrated. My favorite brand is Chi.
yeah it works and it does damage your hair but you can use a heat protectant. make sure you get a good one though stupid con air ones and stuff suck and dont work and just waste your money. it should be over $50 in a store to be good. you could get it offline though.

i use hot sauce to protect it

straighteners are OK to use, but with it you definetely need a heat protector and probally a smooth down. because you can get heat damage, which will make you get more frizz. so i would go get your hair done by a PROFESSIONAL, NOT GREATCLIPS, and see what they recommend.
i have one. and yes it does damage your hair. but very little. the damage is about the same as using a blow dryer. and yes they do work. they work very well. but dont get a cheep one. because they do not work very well. but you should try it. :)
It does damage your hair, but as long as you use conditioner frequently and use a protecting serum or spray that will limit the amount of damage done. Try not to use them too often, but have fun with all the new hairstyles you'll be able to do!
I have naturally curly hair/frizzy hair and it does not damage my hair. But it does depend how healthy your hair is and if you get regular trims. My hair is healthy so it has never gotten burned or fried from a iron.
You should buy a chi. and yes it does damage it but if youuse a heat protector like Nexxus Heat protexx it won't damage it.

Hope I helped,

B.

Btw if your looking for a cute everyday hairstyle to try out go here this tutorial is awesome. ;D

yeah it damages your hair. One time it actually burned a piece of my hair off it was horrible and the burnt hair smell stayed for a whole week. if you do decide get one don't put it to max heat keep it on medium. i still use mine here and there.
It's not that bad. Just get one that isn't TOO cheap, and get some hair protectant that you can spray onto your hair before you straighten it. (It will help it your hair be less frizzy and straighter, too).

Get that set, spray the spray onto your hair and straighten by section, put the silk infusion in when you're done. It works great. (:
You shouldn't. It damages your hair beyond repair. It happened to my best friend, and I'd rather stay natural. If you do buy it, try not to straighten your hair more than once a week.
Yes it will damage your hair mildy. But if you wash your hair and have it cut regularly the damage will be unnoticable. You'll look hot with a straight hair.
it is effective but if done to much it will damage your hair but i would buy it dr.Oz said the best kind to have is a conair it looks wide and its black
It CAN damage it but there are products out there such as serums that reverse and stop damage.
no it does not damage the hair, it just destroys it.
it does, like blow driers, damage your hair. but if you dont use it all the time, you should be fine.
if you don't use it right. be careful.

also you can make toast with it.
im pretty sure split ends. but if you get ur hair cut a little regularly then u'll b fine.
